Falls Church, VA, June 18, 2020 -  Staying healthy means staying on top of your health care needs. But COVID-19 has upended many of our routines. TRICARE can help you stay healthy—and at home—using electronic tools. These online tools can help you manage your health care during this time at home, but also at any time throughout the year. Below are a number of safe and convenient ways you can get the information and care you need.

TRICARE Online and MHS GENESIS

MHS GENESIS is currently available at Fairchild Air Force Base, Madigan Army Medical Center, Naval Hospital Bremerton, Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor, Travis Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Lemoore, the Presidio of Monterey, and the Mountain Home Air Force Base. Patient Portals

Do you go to a military hospital or clinic? If so, depending on the facility you visit, you can use the TRICARE Online (TOL) Patient Portal or MHS GENESIS Patient Portal to book virtual health care appointments. To book an appointment, just log in, provide a phone number, and answer a few questions.

“Patients can use TOL Patient Portal Secure Messaging to send messages to their health care teams to get questions answered,” said James Copeland, portfolio manager for the TOL Patient Portal at the Defense Health Agency. “They can also use TOL Patient Portal Secure Messaging to virtually manage many other health care needs without an in-person visit.”

Through both TOL Patient Portal and the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal, you can:

TRICARE Regional Contractor Resources

You can also access secure messaging with your regional contractor’s self-service options online. Their websites and portals can help you quickly access your eligibility, plan details, deductibles, and cost-shares. Also, view your claims, referrals, and authorizations history.

Overseas Region

If you’re overseas, you can use the International SOS Government Services, Inc. (International SOS) beneficiary secure claims portal to submit online claims and make electronic payments (for those with U.S. bank accounts). This is important because some overseas countries are currently facing mail system challenges. You can view tutorials on how to use the portal, find a provider, contact International SOS, and more. Online webinars are also available to help you understand your TRICARE benefit overseas.

TRICARE and Telehealth

In addition to online tools to help you manage your health care, going virtual may replace certain in-person visits with your provider. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the use of telehealth in the U.S. was increasing exponentially even before COVID-19. Do you have questions about telehealth services that TRICARE covers? TRICARE revised its policy on telehealth services to improve virtual access to health care during the national health emergency due to the pandemic. Go to the Covered Services and TRICARE Coronavirus FAQs sections to learn more.

Check out your TRICARE contractor websites and portals to help you manage your benefit. And, use TRICARE electronic resources to help you take command of your health during COVID-19 and beyond.
