Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program
Benefit Fact Sheet
The mission of the Department of Defense Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) is to promote the well-being of National Guard and Reserve members and their Families by connecting them with resources throughout and beyond the deployment cycle. Soldiers and their Families have access to programs, services, resources, and referrals to minimize stress during all phases of deployment.
Army Reserve Soldiers on active duty and their Families are eligible for Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program support and resources, if recalled as a result of mobilization and/or deployment. The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is designed to address the unique needs and challenges of National Guard and Reserve Soldiers and their Families through all phases of deployment.
Through YRRP events, Soldiers and Families connect with local resources before, during, and after deployments. Reintegration is a critical time for members of the Guard and Reserve, as they often live far from military installations and members of their units. Commanders and leaders play a critical role in assuring that Reserve Component Soldiers and their Families attend YRRP events where they can access information on health care, education/training opportunities, financial and legal benefits.
Events are offered at four key phases in the deployment cycle:
Phase 1: Pre-Deployment (From first notification of deployment until deployment occurs)
Phase 2: Deployment (From departure until demobilization)
Phase 3: Demobilization (From the unit’s arrival at the demobilization station to departure for its home station)
Phase 4: Post Deployment / Reconstitution (From arrival at home station to 180 days after arrival)
YRRP works in conjunction with partners including: Military OneSource, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Small Business Administration and the Departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs. This collaboration provides informative and interactive seminars and resources that are relevant to members of the National Guard and Reserve community.
