Summary:

Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) is a program provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the spouses and dependent children of members insured under the Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI) program. It provides up to a maximum of $100,000 of insurance coverage for spouses and $10,000 for dependent children.

Eligibility:

Spouses and children of retired Soldiers are not eligible for FSGLI.

Spouses covered under FSGLI at the time of the Soldier's retirement may convert their coverage to an individual policy of life insurance with a commercial company that participates in the program within 120 days following the date the Soldier's SGLI coverage ends. Spouses may convert at standard premium rates, without having to provide proof of good health.
