Summary:

The Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP) is a partnership between the Army Recruiting Command and over 1,900 participating colleges to mutually advance the goals of lifelong learning and postsecondary education for Future Soldiers. On January 1, 2014, the United States Army Recruiting Command assumed ConAP program management and now serves as liaison between Army Recruiters, Education Services Specialists, ConAP colleges, Army education centers and the higher education community.

ConAP goals are to increase enlistment of college-capable active duty and Reserve Soldiers; increase the number of Army Soldiers, Veterans, and Reserve Soldiers enrolled in college; and increase the use of GI Bill education benefits.

Eligibility:

ConAP is intended for new enlistees in the Regular Army and the Army Reserve. To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Enlist in the Army or Army Reserves*
  2. Be in the Future Soldier Program

For the Regular Army, you can choose active-duty enlistment options of two to six years, and training is guaranteed in over 200 job skills. Initial Army Reserve enlistment options are for six years and upon completion of training, consist of a requirement to attend one weekend drill a month plus two weeks of annual training each year.

New enlistees continue in the Future Soldier Program until the day before they ship for Basic Training.

Benefit Highlights:

The program's purpose is to link Future Soldiers to a ConAP college at the time of enlistment in the Army or Army Reserve. During the enlistment process, Army and Army Reserve recruiters refer Future Soldiers to ConAP colleges, typically in their home areas. The Future Soldier submits a College Referral and Intent to Enroll form* to a ConAP college stating his/her intent to enroll during or after their enlistment. The college acknowledges the intent to enroll form and sends information about the college to the Future Soldier. The ConAP form provides guidelines about applying for admission, preparing for the academic experience, beginning college work during enlistment, and staying in touch with the college.

The intent is for Soldiers to transition directly from the Army or Army Reserves to their ConAP college. Soldiers/Veterans must meet admission requirements and as students are subject to the college's degree requirements that appear in the catalog at the time of enrollment.

Participating ConAP colleges are military friendly and have a Department of Defense (DOD) Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Benefits associated with this partnership include use of good academic practice in accepting courses from other colleges; utilizing the American Council on Education Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services (ACE Guide) to award credit for military courses that fit a student's curriculum; and when applicable to college guidelines, awarding credit for military occupational experience.
