Combat-related Injury Rehabilitation Pay (CIP) is a special pay for Soldiers hospitalized during rehabilitation from wounds, injuries, and/or illness incurred in a combat operation or combat zone after having been evacuated from theater as a result of those wounds, injuries or illness. Some special pays received in the combat zone cease when evacuated Soldiers are hospitalized and/or placed on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) reassignment. CIP allows Soldiers to adjust to the future reduction of pay benefits to which they were entitled in the combat zone prior to evacuation.
